Katherine Frumin, LICSW
I started my career path by volunteering my time at a suicide prevention lifeline providing support for individuals in distress, and learned that being present for people in their most vulnerable times of need is one of the most humbling yet fulfilling services I want to provide in my life. In 2013, I returned to school to get my Masters in Social Work, and graduated from Bridgewater State University in 2015. I continued my journey by working with adolescents/young adults and their families in residential care and university settings. I continued my professional growth in hospital settings as well. These opportunities gave me the experience of working with clients going through various challenges including mental health, addiction, poverty, and community violence to name a few, and process how these factors affected the client and family systems.
I am a therapist primarily working with adolescents and young adults, and I offer both individual, and family therapy. I have a client-centered, strengths-based approach in working with my clients (and the important individuals in their lives) to gain a better understanding of what may be contributing to the challenges they may be experiencing. It is my goal to empower clients to both explore and learn from the challenges they face, and to grow from these experiences. I specialize in working with clients living with trauma, loss, addiction, depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, amongst others, and work with these clients to build on their coping skills to reach greatest potential to reach their goals. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and utilize Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused techniques in working with clients.
