I am a licensed mental health counselor passionate about helping individuals live
gratifying lives, whatever that may mean to them, using trauma-informed, anti-racist, and LGBTQIA+-affirming approaches. I help people to manage life’s transitions
and stressors and address a range of challenges. I specialize in working with those
struggling with depression, anxiety, and trauma. I treat everyone with warmth and
respect, valuing the unique nature of every story.

In my practice, I treat adults (18+) using cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and narrative therapy (see below if you are unfamiliar with any of these!). Using these modalities, I tailor my approach to each person’s specific needs and welcome feedback along the way.

My goal is for you to feel heard and understood and for us to collaboratively work
towards a life that is fulfilling for you.

A brief explanation of the approaches I use:

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT): CBT focuses on addressing unhelpful thoughts and deeply held beliefs about oneself and the world that negatively affect how one feels and subsequently, how one acts.

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT): This form of therapy focuses on the development of skills in four areas—distress tolerance (skills to be able to tolerate negative emotions without needing to escape or act in unhealthy ways), emotion regulation (skills to manage and change strong emotions that are having a negative impact), mindfulness (skills to be
present without judgment), and interpersonal effectiveness (skills to communicate
assertively and get one’s needs met).

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy: EMDR therapy is a structured therapy that has been shown through research to help people recover from impactful events, trauma, and PTSD.  This is done by having the person focus briefly on an impactful memory while experiencing bilateral stimulation (through eye movements or other means).  This is linked to a reduction in the emotional intensity and vividness associated with the memory.

Narrative therapy: This type of therapy is based on the idea that people are separate from their problems. It aims to deconstruct unhelpful storylines that have been created about
oneself or one’s life and to rewrite them in a way that empowers.
